During our daily discussions with banks, we hear several versions of essentially the same question:
“What are you hearing from other banks?”
“How do we compare to other banks you’re talking to?”
“What’s everyone else doing?”
Those repeated queries were the impetus of this report: We wanted to give commercial bankers a clear view into what happened across the U.S. lending market in 2018. Then we wanted to offer our insights into why these trends occurred. Finally, we sought to answer: “What’s next?” by offering our outlook for commercial lending in 2019.
